HGSCA joined efforts with Sister Cities of Houston and Sister Cities International to assist them in organizing the Youth Leadership Summit Houston 2019 held in Houston on July 16, 17, 18, and 19. The event was sponsored by Rice University, ESPOL, Goya, Japan – American Society of Houston, Goya, Ascent Emergency Medical Center, Ambassadors International Ballet Folklorico, Intuitive African Dance and Drum Culture, Raul Edwards, the Latin Chamber of Commerce (CELH), Houston Community College, City of Houston, and many individuals who donated their time, resources, and money to make out this event a success.

Kenia Mosquera, Director of Communication, acted as one of the Chairman of the event along with Alex Chang, Sister Cities of Houston Board Member. HGSCA recognizes Paulina Davila, Director of Protocol, Paulina Vallejo, Event Director, Jenny Vera, Director of Public Relations at HGSCA Guayaquil, Alejandro Chanaba, Member of the Advisory Board as well as Jorge Gomez, President of the Ecuadorian Association, and the Ecuadorian community for their outstanding performance as volunteers. The event gathered 143 students from different countries such as Ecuador, Pakistan, Indonesia, China, Venezuela, and several U.S. cities.

The participants were divided in 5 tracks and had to solve real world challenges in a short amount of time. They had only 11 hours to solve their challenges and the winners of the competitions presented at the main conference in front of Diplomats and Citizen Diplomats who were amazed with the performance and quality of products of the brilliant young minds.
